How to have a rest

rest_lb_w50_stretchingBefore you go totally nuts with all the Christmas preparations, challenge yourself and dare to have a little rest, a moment of total relaxation. Don’t aim to fall into sleep, just be there and enjoy.

If you are ready to try having a rest, you will need the following in place:

  • Darkness: it is imprinted in our biology to rest when it is dark.
  • Body position: prop your torso up at an angle of 30 degrees from floor – this shuts down the Reticular Activating System, the part of the brain keeps you awake and muscles tense.
  • Body temperature: warm hands and feet, cooler core.
  • Ambience: quiet or soft music, warm air temperature, no draughts.

After 20 minutes….how do you feel?
