If you are ready to try having a rest, you will need the following in place:
- Darkness: it is imprinted in our biology to rest when it is dark.
- Body position: prop your torso up at an angle of 30 degrees from floor – this shuts down the Reticular Activating System, the part of the brain keeps you awake and muscles tense.
- Body temperature: warm hands and feet, cooler core.
- Ambience: quiet or soft music, warm air temperature, no draughts.
After 20 minutes….how do you feel?
